Ghent’s Loop is changing from a place people visit for IKEA or a trade fair into a district where they live, work and move daily. Veld 12 East adds 22,000 m² of retail on two levels in the middle of that shift. Completion is set for 2028. The brands that commit first shape the mix everyone else joins.
From destination trips to daily traffic
The City of Ghent’s vision for The Loop turns a retail cluster into a full urban district. It brings together offices, homes, retail, leisure and public space, with more greenery, water and better routes for walking and cycling.
Until now, people came to The Loop for a big purchase or an event. Next, they will come because they work here, live here or pass through. For a retailer, that means visitors who come back, not only for a furniture run or a trade fair.
Scale between two traffic drivers
Veld 12 East sits between IKEA and Flanders Expo. Both pull visitors from Ghent and well beyond it.
The project offers 22,000 m² of retail on two levels, with its own parking garage. That is room for a full-format store, not a compromise unit, inside a destination bigger than the store itself.
Why the first tenants decide the district
Retailers no longer pick a location on square metres alone. They look at what surrounds it: access, scale, the functions next door and the long-term plans for the area.
At Veld 12 East, those surroundings are still taking shape. The right combination of brands decides whether a project becomes a destination or just retail space. Retailers who commit before 2028 choose their unit and their neighbours. Those who wait take what remains.
Banimmo has appointed Avenue to lead the letting. Our Out of Town team walks retailers through the available units and the mix as it forms.
